I am half English and half Spanish, therefore I learnt to speak both languages at home which has given me the opportunity to be bilingual. I was raised in various cultures, living in other countries as an expat myself. So therefore it is not something strange to me when people go through “cultural shock” and all the difficulties that arise when one is living in a country that is not their own. I think this is a valuable experience being able to work with people who come from different countries and/or cultures: I have been there myself once before.

Since I was young I have been fascinated in psychology and studying human behaviour. Watching TV and seeing the typical “shrink” analysing the patient on the couch made me curious what it would be like to help others. Since starting out as a therapist I have found it really fulfilling and satisfying to try and help others to improve their quality of life and make the right choices for themselves.

I studied psychology in England at Exeter University, I then moved to Spain to continue with my education and did two MAs, specialising in family counseling and couples and family therapy. I have done courses in psychodrama, individual therapy and I am currently studying a course in therapy with children and teens.

My main focus I use in therapy is Family Systems Theory, analyzing family dynamics from the past as a way of being able to move forward and heal old wounds. I feel that our first few years growing up determine how we will attach as adults and so it’s necessary to take a step back and understand where we come from so that we can choose the right path for us.

I have spent 13 years working in social services in Madrid: in foster care, child protection services, working with people with spinal cord injury and families who are in the process of separation and divorce.

At the same time I have always had my own private psychotherapy practice, working with both Spanish and English speakers, in person and online. I carry out individual, couples and family therapy, helping people overcome trauma, depression, anxiety and many other mental health issues that often stop us as individuals from getting to where we want to.
